Thank you for your continued loyalty and support as your preferred Elleebana USA distributor. Here at Panoply Beauty, we are in constant communication with Elleebana HQ and the USA warehouse, which is located in Chicago, to ensure we bring you the most up to date information on trainings and Elleebana products.
On 10/24, the USA team was notified by Elleebana HQ of a few important changes that will unfortunately impact our ability to supply a few of our favorite products.
FDA has been heavily scrutinizing the importation of eyelash and eyebrow tints that contain phenylenediamine (PPD) or toluenediamine (coal tar derivatives) that are being used on the eyelashes and eyebrow area. Lash and brow tints have never been FDA approved in the USA. They have come down hard in recent weeks, and is adding any companies that export or import these products to an alert list which confiscates the products, and in turn stops the importation of ALL products from that company into the USA.
Recently, Refectocil released the very first FDA approved tint which does not contain phenylenediamine, toluenediamine, or any coal tar derivatives. This is the only tint available in the USA (and the world) that is FDA approved for use around the eyes and eyebrows. All other products in the USA that contain any PPD or coal tar derivatives are not permitted for this use, and the FDA is now stopping every single shipment that enters the USA to check for these products. For any companies that are importing these tints, or henna into the US, it’s only a matter of time before they will also be stopped and their entire business operation is jeopardized.
Because of this, Elleebana has chosen to halt the importation of tints and henna in the USA that are not in compliance with the FDA and are rapidly working towards a solution for our customers, students, trainers and distributors. This decision is not one they have taken lightly; they have been much research and consideration but ultimately, they can’t risk Elleebana Lash Lift, Elleeplex Profusion or eyelash extensions ranges from being stopped for sale in the USA.
Elleebana is anticipating they will have a solution for the USA when it comes to offering a tint that is FDA approved, however this is going to take some time as they finish further research and testing.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR PANOPLY BEAUTY?
Panoply Beauty will continue to sell Elleebana One Shot Lash Lift, Elleeplex Profusion Brow & Lash Lamination Systems, Elleebana aftercare/retail products, adhesives and tools. We will NO longer be able to restock the tints, both Belmacil & Elleeplex Profusion, including all the colors and oxydants, as well as kits once we run out of stock. Elleebana will also no longer be importing items in the henna range including all henna colors, shampoo and aqua activator.
For those customers wanting a quick solution, here are a couple tips to understand moving forward.
- 3% oxydant is equivalent to 10 volume cream.
- 2% is a 7 volume
- 1% a 5 volume
These are considered a more mild option. Take that into consideration where pairing with your brow and lash tints.
Most tints contain ammonia so pairing with a more mild developer can help decrease the likelihood of reaction or sensitivity.
Many companies offer these cream based hydrogen peroxide developers.
Some use 6% oxydant (which is a 20 volume) most often intended for gray coverage. 6% with an ammonia based tint can cause many people burning during a lash tint, or sensitivity to the skin during a brow tint, especially after a lamination.
Oxydants are not banned in the USA, however Elleebana does not want to risk having all inventory confiscated by FDA by continuing to import oxydant, henna shampoo, and activator for the time being.
Please be sure to check the other brands percentage of their oxydants when using it with the Elleebana and Belmacil tints and lifting systems. Elleebana has always used lower, safer percentages, like 2 and 3%.
I am doing my best to stay on top of all updates from Elleebana HQ as they come. I will keep you updated as we continue getting important information regarding “USA approved” products. The current Elleebana range is still very much being produced and sold everywhere in the world, however Canada and USA are now the only countries currently not allowing large shipments to be imported unfortunately.
I have been testing other tints and products, working on an alternative solution in the meantime and will ensure to relay new information as it comes!
Again, thank you so much from the bottom of my heart! Your support means the world to me and my family!
